"Maybe it was the gel pyramid... But this felt like a show for the ages, through and through. The energy was thick, the sound was great, and the band brought the heat! I felt Story took a little bit of time to really get off the ground at the time, but once it did there was no let-up. Basis-><-Humu->Basis was beautifully executed and brought the classic dungeon untz. Brownie's out of time singing somehow made it even better. After the Basis ending, we knew set 2 could end up being a major event. In my opinion, it definitely was. ¿Dondé? was one of the few songs I didn't immediately recognize, but it was very well played and a pretty solid bust out as I came to learn! Then came the penultimate sandwich on this night filled with hetty Touchdown All Cave Meatball Subs. Waves was beautifully played. Hearing Barber's swirling guitar intro that I've attempted to imitate so many times made it finally click that I truly was seeing the same band that was laying down the sickest, heaviest jams ever conceived circa 1999. All the hours of recordings I'd heard were finally manifesting in person before my eyes, and the band embarked on a journey I'll never forget. Tractorbeam be damned, I'd rather hear this brand of demented, relentless insanity any day. I lost my head when they began the middle section of Jigsaw, and the ensuing DubSaw jam was probably the most insane, psychedelic ear candy I'd ever witnessed in person. The fact that these guys are still finding fresh, creative ways to jam on a 22 year old composition is just mind blowing. The Jigsaw beginning was really the only rocky bit of the show, but after the jam they'd just laid down who couldn't forgive them? They'd probably blown their own minds, too. The jam back into Waves was more high-paced insanity, somewhere in there I remember a particularly earth-shattering Barber solo. As Waves drew to a close, I was lift with that all too familiar "well where the fuck can you go from there?" feeling. They could've left then and I still would've been satisfied. But a Miles Davis jam? This is what put the set over the top for me. Absolutely classic Biscuits, and some GD level fuckery in my opinion. It would've been cool if they had found a way to transition it more smoothly into the DTTB intro, but nothing could bring me down at that point. The final sandwich of the run was a triumphant exclamation point on the run. They'd already proved their point, everything else was ooey-gooey bisco gravy. Anthem was very well played and segued, and Rock Candy is always a perfect set closer,and contained a very nice jam, taboot. Portal was fun, but by that point my brain was stuck on what I'd experienced during the ATW-><-Jigsaw->Waves. This run cemented The Disco Biscuits as the most powerful, heavy, cosmic jamband in the world in my mind. And I suspect they've rarely left the top 3 since the NYE '98 Run. I love this band. I love you all. Long live BISCO!!! "
